SV Restless

One of the rail termination end fittings. These baffled me for a long time... how do you make that piece, with the inside curve and the compound curve on the outside? And how do you make them all the same, 2 different sizes,, and rights and lefts? Finally I cut some heavy discs, 2 1/2" thick, 8" and 10" in diameter, and turned bell shaped pieces on the metal lathe using wood turning tools, and then band sawed this shape out of them. I used the rotary table on the Bridgeport for part of this process. This piece is then carved into the bulkhead, so the compound curve fades away to zero. It worked out well and they look good, but as I said earlier, I didn't always get the grain running the way I wanted. Next
